WoodWood presented their Spring/Summer '24 in the backyard of their
headquarter's in Copenhagen during Copenhagen Fashionweek, naming the
collection "Solidair' after a litlle poem of John Martyn;
"I know you,
I love you
I’ll be your friend
I could follow you anywhere
Even through solid air"
Solid Air - John Martyn
- What began as an end of Summer lament, a postcard to absent friends, grew to
include more significant elements; a moment of reflection and catharsis.
Clothes can do this. As much as they can provide celebration and excitement
they can also supply pause. After all, we still refer to them in 'seasons'.
For Wood Wood, the Spring Summer '24 collection came to symbolise precisely
this; an inventory, a review of friendships and dreams unfulfilled while
laying the ground for new hopes and new plans. - Collection notes
Naming the collection 'Solid air', the brand wants us to see this
collection as a thoughtful pause. As we don't know what is suggested by
this we look at the collection and we see a modern tailored, thoughtful and
timeless collection of mereley grey and black layers, poppud up with bright
orange and sky blue. The subtle colorpalette shows a sustainable and typical
Skandinavian collection with draped styling and models wrapped up in garments.
A closer look at the collection shows a diversity of fabrics like linen, wool,
waxed denim, viscose mesh and soft cotons.
The grey, light wool pinstriped pencil-skirt, with asymmetric closure and
styled with a grey reversed blouse was our absolute toplook. In the same
color, we liked the trenchcoat-style wrapdress, worn with light wool leggings
and silver stiletto's. Anouther outstanding piece we found in the black mesh
dress, layered over a simple white blouse dress and styled with a small black
bag in both hands with some black arm accessoiries, the brand showed a strong
minimal design language which can be developed further the upcoming seasons.
