Grounds Spring/Summer '26 Paris Fashionweek

If you spot shoes that look like an AI dream, they are likely from the Japanese brand Grounds. The brand is famous for it's futuristic sneakers that seem to float; featuring chunky, 3D-printed designs that look like they stepped right out of a cartoon. The brand became famous worldwide for their sneakers that seem to defy gravity. Even though the brand won't mass-produce the clothes, the goal is to get people to look up from the futuristic shoes and see the whole look.
The Spring/Summer '26 collection was presented in a Paris parking garage and felt like a scene from a movie. This season, Sakabe was inspired by Japanese horror stories, creating outfits that look spooky and wicked. Models walked out looking like creatures with bug-eyes, long overzised sleeves, and bags of trash. Some wore suits that looked like kimonos, decorated with patterns of decay, while others had hair styled into long, reaching tentacles. There were belts made from recycled trash, and suits that look like Tokyo street style's hottest. The accessories were just as strange, with bug-like sunglasses, socks worn as gloves, and ties that looked like they were moving. Every detail helped create a spooky, dream-like feeling, turning normal clothes into something fascinating weird and beautiful.

At the heart of the brand was the new shoe technology. Mikio Sakabe revealed three new styles: the Skyscraper, which has a tall but light platform that feels like walking on clouds; the Chrystal, a massive sole that stands out; and the Jog Vision, a high-tech sneaker with bright neon edges.
The Spring/Summer '26 collection was also a study in opposites a rough parking garage filled with delicate, shredded clothes, and street styles brought to a fancy Paris runway. It showed why Grounds is years ahead of everyone else. Their design style is bold, mixing art, hand-made craft, and future ideas. By using trash, themes of decay, and traditional Japanese culture (kimonos) to tie everything together, the designer creates a world that feels both strange and familiar. This unique style lets us step back from reality, helping us see ourselves in a new way and learn something new about life and the human experience. See also the Grounds Resort collection HERE
