DAWEI Studio subscripes itself on their instagram as "fashion, thinking, debate, international, cooperation, innovation, heritage, style, meeting point, design, boundaries...from Paris to China". We got to know Dawei a few seasons ago during their Spring/Summer '19 collection presentation at Palais de Tokyo in Paris. We we're interested and impressed back then and curious to see their new Fall/Winter '20 collection.
Dawei stands for contemporary luxury silhouettes, modern tailoring with the know-how of french couture. Designed for women of every age, expressing their personalities with confidence and style.
For this collection Dawei took inspiration from "King of Marais", the cute but also funny bird (shoebill) who is forceful in the wild. The grey of his feathers became tone of the collection as shown in the wool coats, boots, skirts and knits. The whole collection color palette looked like a late autumn nature side, with the beige, bleus and cremes. For this season Dawei collaborated with the french shoes brand Clergerie for two exclusive models on three colors (we love all the grey ones!).
Leaving the show we were enthusiastic. Our absolute favourites were the urban styled trenchcoats, oversized and with double faced wool (Dawei's signature). In particular the ones combined with laque (!) in combination with the trench-like (laque) skirts. Also very much loved the deconstructed knitwear combined with the combat boots which gave it it's sporty look. You may not see it good enough but there were knitted bralettes underneath the trenchcoats as well as on/over the trenchcoats; warm, chic and giving the coat character and a feminin touch we love.
PS best hair of the season...for those who dare.
