Dawei Studio presented their Fall/Winter '23/'24 collection during
Paris Fashionweek and reimagines the 19th century fashion for today. The collection named "The Curtain Rises" explores the spirit of the 19th century, the impact by the
invention of steam engine, the air of elegance, and the hope and
desire that were thriving. For the season, the brand examines the
collision between the past and the present, but instead of nostalgia
it brings a breath of newness. The color palette includes beige,
grey, brown, sky blue, grass green, aubergine purple and goose
yellow.
"The corset silhouetted with sharp lines, the accordion-like skirt
that can be fluidly stretched, the dramatically designed hemline of
the coat, the purposely placed tab and the fluffy gigot sleeves…
These are all marks found by Dawei from the past within the palace.
Meanwhile, the hand-sewn sunray pleats has added a stately dimension
to the collection. Like winding rivers, the pleats horizontally or
vertically spread over the pieces. Following the undulation of the
body, the curves of elegance are depicting spontaneously” – from Dawei
We found our absolute toplook in the beige coat layered with a
corset ,designed with wide pleats as if it is a skirt. Similar with the padded beige coat, worn with a
cropped oversized trenchcoat. While the black sharp tailored, corset dress breathed effortless style and feminity.
