Pigalle, named after a former red-light district in Paris, was founded in
2008 by Stephane Ashpool. Pigalle has always been about community,
streetwear and Parisian cool. That's why the designer had hoped to welcome a physical audience to his fall/Winter '21
presentation. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this wasn't possible so
Pigalle showed their new collection digital at Paris Men's
Fashionweek.
The brand made a movie that filmed the diversity of the community, using
the local youth as an authentic cast. Dancing around, having fun with the
clothes and each other, emphasized the family feelings Pigalle wants to send
out.
The collection exists of metallic outerwear, oversized tailoring -
styled slouchly, lots of velvet, the well known Pigalle hoodies and ofcourse
a set of collective Air Jordan 1 mid sneakers with matching
pieces. As seen at many brands, the workwear vests are here to stay, but
Pigalle styled them up with some glittery buttons. Also some of the trousers and vests can be customized and/or upgraded with gold
buttons.
As Dutch we loved to see the new fresh inclusion in the form of an X-framed
electric city bike. Ashpool is working on a serie of bike designs in
collaboration with the Dutch company
van Moof, which
is planned to be available at the end of the year (wanted!). As Dutch we all
know the pro's of being on a bike (avoiding traffic jams, being outside,
being independent etc) especially now with the virus, you can avoid the
public trasport, get some fresh air, and remove yourself without wearing a
mask.
