Fun, happy colors, tailoring and layers at Belgian designer Meryll Rooge's new Fall/Winter collection. A small cocktail party at 3537, the cultural hotspot in the heart of the Marais in Paris, surrounded by family and friends. The huge dinner tables were staged with fake food and drinks, friends of the designer dressed in the new collection, walking around and showing the collection while the guests were enjoying their drinks.
Titled "Poor connection" as a reference to the lockdowns and social distancing during the pandemic, Meryll Rogge wanted to create a festive collection, at her first presentation during Paris Fashionweek.
This years semi-finalist at LVMH prize, the designer succeeded; celeberatory, bright colors and patterns were seen as well as couture like skirts, mixed of with a cut-out streetstyle croptops. The asymetric slipdresses are the signature of this Fall collection. Cut-outs and lace make it feel it's multiple layered but in fact it is just one layer. The cashmere knits have a deconstructed look and are a musthave for all knit lovers. Actually not only for knitlovers but for everyone... as seeing knitwear in all it's forms in all Fall collections; thick or thin wool, deconstructed and/or with cut-outs, oversized or sleek, buttoned or not... the knit is the upcoming statement piece.
Our absolute favourite look was the yellow lack miniskirt with long sleep combined with the cropped beige cut-out top. Another stand-out look was found in the pencil striped tailored coat combined with stiletto booties and a miniskirt.
