Teppei Fujita was born in Chiba, Japan in 1984. After he worked at Yohji
Yamamoto gaining experencience as a patternmaker, Fujita founded menswear
brand Sulvam in 2013.
With emphasis on alluring masculinity, using the
pattern making skills acquired under Yohji Yamamoto, Fujita’s collection has
been positively received.
Sulvam unveiled it's Fall/Winter '23 collection during Paris Men's
Fashionweek with pieces that cross over freely with punks, tattoos, kimono's
and suiting which gives the brand it's own signature style and implying
cultural diversity.
The collection introduced deconstructed silhouettes and
details combining colors as (mostly) black, grey, navy blue and touches of
orange and golden, carefully adding a lively mood. Overlapping all
boundaries the designer wants the wearer to choose their fit and style as
they like to wear it. As some pieces seem hard to handle they allow movement
and breathability, as the designer aimed and encourages the free spirit of
the wearer.
There are oversized-fit coats and trousers looking like skirts with details
such as drawstrings and loosely hanging straps and sacks with oversized
flaps, making it both practical as well as sophisticated.
Our top-looks were the black tweed matching suit, looking quiet casual with
the beige simple knit. Another outstanding outfit was the punk-like golden
suit, versatile in it's formal tailoring whether you wear it casual or to
a party.
Last note from the designer: 'There shouldn’t be racial or language barriers, everyone should be free
and happy. I believe that fashion and clothing can exist beyond
these.'
