Auralee Spring/Summer '24 Paris Fashionweek

Japanese label Auralee presented their Men &Women Spring/Summer '24 collection, outside on the streets of Paris during Paris Men's Fashionweek. The brand is known for it's sophisticated designs that blend traditional Japanese craftmanship with modern sensibilities and has become a mainstay on the official calendar.

Collection notes:
For Spring/Summer 2024, Auralee celebrates these subtle details that make all the difference, defining the expressive ways of being ourselves. Individuality is about the unconventional twists that make each one of us unique. Quirks, whimsies, habits, fancies, peculiar traits and attitudes that speak of singularity. As always, in Auralee Spring/Summer '24, premium high-quality all original fabrications ground the collection. Textured dry cottons; delicate organza; summer weight wool mohair, mélange-colored wool poplin, home spun mesh tweed, nylon taffeta, luxurious, fine materials whose surfaces are sometimes given a wrinkled texture, as if they were washed and just out of a tumble dryer; some are treated to a smooth finish, or to a translucent sheen, adding that deceptive touch of imperfection that makes every garment distinctive.
Coats with silk linings; tailored trench coats in fine wool; slacks in light crisp wool mohair are reversible, worn deliberately inside-out to convey an attitude of personal interpretation. On the same note, standout outerwear as well as constructed blousons and hoodies in elevated tropical wool faces are contrasted with a voluminous spongy effect, making their look unconventional without detracting from elegant functionality.
Knitwear is soft, transparent, airy and versatile, proposed in high-gauge variations layered and worn with shorts, high socks and leather shoes for a bit of styling quirk; slender knitted dresses in wool-silk are proposed alongside nostalgic sheer ringer tees and half-worn camisoles, perfect to be layered to achieve an imaginative look. Slight tone variations tinge the surface of materials with gentle variations; the palette of delicate whites, beige, pale greens and pale blues is soft and poetic, while strong reds, turquoise and greens conveys chromatic vitality. Black accentuates the intensity of strong colors and Ensembles are accented with light but substantially constructed mesh bags, and cycling-inspired saddlebags, effortlessly holding unworn layers and achieving an air of openness.

In contrary to their Fall/Winter '23 collection, the brand leaves the pastel shades and replaces them with more mature and somber neutrals, mixed with a popping red, hard blue and turquoise. We love the creative styling of the brand, using the garments & shoes as accessories, making it eyecatchers of the outfit. Our outstanding looks were the dresses and co-ed garments with the wrinkle textures. Another favourite outfit was the ombre trenchcoat, worn inside out givin' it a personal touch, showing of the beautiful silk inside. In that same category we find the beautiful ombre deux-piece; a pleated skirt and blazer worn with a green soft knit. One look we loved but seen similar in other brands collection, was the organza green sheer skirt. The difference with other brands is, again, in the styling but also in the silhouet. Auralee's styles a boxy silhouet in the upper-body and mixes the skirt with a big shoulder top where most other brands design a more slim upper-body fit. Another difference is the brand's choice of not showing underwear but layer the skirt with a soft-pink mini-skirt underneath, giving this trendy sheer look a whole own signature. Last but not least a special mention to the, partly, mesh oversized bags, worn losely with coats/blazers as a styling accessorie ... wanted!
