Sulvam debuted their Spring/Summer '24 collection in a narrow side street,
right in the centre of Paris during Men's Fashionweek. With blue skies and
warm temperatures, the brand chose to let the models walk outside on the
street, where some barriers held the public from the runway, and just a few
benches for the guests. We loved the set-up; being so accessible and open for
the public, made the collection and fashion approachable for everyone
accindentally passing by. As the designer says in his show notes: "I want all
kinds of people to enjoy them." The Sulvam Spring/Summerlook is defined by
carefully considered deconstructed tailoring, loose-fitting pants, dragon
embroidery cargo-pants, and jackets with imperfect distressed seams for him
and her, leaving genders behind.
Collection notes:
The line between formal and casual no longer exists. Is "Comfortable"
casual?
Even dress shirts can be “comfortable” wear these days. What are "formal
wear" and "fashion”?
Does the brand decide?
Denim, chambray, and other fabrics that were originally used for workers’
uniforms are now being used as "fashion".
Elegant wools, white jackets and pants, and formal wear can be styled to
look casual and street. The cuts and the fabrics make them look
fashion.
Dress shirts tailored by hand in Paris, denims, carefully washed, processed
by Japanese craftsmen in Okayama, "I want all kinds of people to enjoy
them", in the same way as fashion.
