Backstage & on the runway TGPSZ Fall/Winter '24 Paris Fashionweek

For the first time, the Chinese brand TGPSZ showcased its Fall/Winter 2024 collection at Paris Fashion Week, held at Gallery Bourbon.. Creative director JK zheng drew inspiration from the classic “Zhuang Zhou Dreams of a Butterfly” tale, blending it with traditional Chinese porcelain art, particularly the "Butterfly Love Flower" motif, to craft the Dream Maker series, featuring flocked, printed wool fabrics.

In this collection, classic silhouettes are reimagined with modern upgrades, blending traditional elegance with elements of strength. The iconic wool fabric is transformed through gradient inkjet techniques, deconstruction, recombination, and creative splicing, highlighting a sophisticated balance of elegance and resilience.

Vintage-inspired denim maintains a retro-futuristic vibe, while it is creatively combined with imitation fur and blue leather jacket deconstructions. The diamond-logo keychain complements silver leather boots and metallic branding, while the distressed, patchwork denim shirt gives a surreal, dream-like effect. Lush butterfly motifs are woven with imitation mink yarn, wool, and floral prints, reflecting the brand’s signature vibrant color contrasts and bold forms.

In the Twisted Dream beige, cardamom green, midnight purple, and gray flow across items like one-piece fur jackets, aviator earmuffs, and layered sweaters, accented with key-lock pendant belts and matching shoe bags. This also includes Paris Dream Elf graphics and butterfly patterns, meticulously crafted on eco-friendly leather pieces like racing jackets, knee-high buckle boots, and suede coats, harmonizing with military-inspired camo workwear. The dreamy purple tones and elf illustrations suggest a mysterious mechanism, where keys and locks signify hidden meanings within this romantic and lavish vision.

The collection’s eco-conscious fur and leather items, along with dream-themed knits, express the brand’s commitment to retro futurism. For the Fall/Winter '24 the designer finally, has hand-drawn carved details on sun-kissed brown suede jackets to underscore this theme, crafting a cohesive line that captures the essence of the dreamer.

Our thoughts; we appreciated the layering and styling, especially the addition of keys throughout, which nicely referenced the collection's inspiration. We loved how the sweaters and jumpers were styled to resemble hoodies, offering versatile ways to wear them. Our top look was the blue leather-like jacket paired with oversized gray trousers and slouched sagging boots. Another favorite was the green military-print dress with its cargo-style large pockets and bold, oversized shoulders.
