Henrik Vibskov brought a very special show to Copenhagen Fashion Week with his new Fall/Winter '26 collection. The show was titled "Frog Carry Frog" and marked the Danish designer's 25th anniversary. Instead of just looking back at the past, he chose a unique theme
for the future: the frog. For Vibskov, the frog represents
transformation and the way humans need to help each other carry
life's heavy burdens. The theater setting fit this perfectly,
featuring jungle sounds and performers carrying massive wooden
ladders on their backs.
The clothing focused entirely on comfort, protection, and heavy
layering. Models walked the runway in oversized wool coats, boxy
blazers, and thick sweaters stacked on top of each other. The frog
theme was brought to life in subtle ways, from abstract amphibian
shapes on knitwear to playful beanies with bulging eyes. The color
palette felt like a swamp at dusk, using deep chocolate browns, moss
greens, and smoky greys, while bright orange accents gave the looks
a fresh, modern pop.
Behind the scenes, the brand worked hard to meet the strict sustainability rules of Copenhagen Fashion Week. Vibskov used certified organic, upcycled, or recycled fabrics
for the vast majority of the collection. The heavy coats and
suits were made from recycled wool and organic cotton. Even the
warm padding inside the winter jackets used Ecodown, a smart
insulation material made entirely from recycled plastic
bottles. The eco-friendly mindset extended to the smallest details. The
buttons on the garments were crafted from Corozo, a natural
material made from fallen palm nuts that safely biodegrades.
Finally, the design team didn't throw away the stage props after
the curtains closed; the wooden ladders and decorations were saved
to be reused in future art installations and store displays.
One of the most talked about items from the show was the
collection of knit beanies featuring quirky bulging amphibian
eyes on top that instantly gave the models a fun toad like
silhouette. To match this wetland ecosystem the models also wore
sleek oversized sunglasses with frames shaped like insect eyes
to add a cool futuristic touch to the outfits. For rain soaked
days the brand introduced heavy fabric bucket hats in classic
plaid and tartan patterns to offer a stylish shield against the
elements. The brand put a lot of focus on the lower half of the looks by
dressing models in whimsically mismatched socks or pairs heavily
emblazoned with graphic frog motifs. Vibskov kept his classic
footwear style alive by sending models down the runway in his
signature two tone leather shoes known for their distinct color
blocking and long thin laces. A major staple of the footwear
line included the iconic Henrik Vibskov Kelly Boots which were
presented in a shiny brush off leather finish using distinct
colors like deep red swamp green sulphur yellow and classic
black. Every accessory was designed to make the human shape look
a little more integrated into the natural wetland world.
Henrik Vibskov can turn even the most eccentric elements of
nature into a cohesive, sustainable, and highly wearable vision
of modern fashion. This forward-looking vision is currently being celebrated on a
grand scale in the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen, where a major
retrospective brings together more than 25 years of Henrik Vibskov's
work. The exhibition features 44 immersive display cases filled with
original objects, studio prototypes, and iconic fashion collections,
alongside large-scale art installations that visitors can walk
through to experience his unique creative universe first-hand.
