Ex-fashiondesigner Helmut Lang, who definied the style of the 90's, is
enlisted by Saint Laurent's creative direcor Anthony Vaccarello, for a
series of sculptures. Since retiring the fashion industry in 2005,
Helmut Lang has been working as an artist. Anthony Vaccarello is a great
admirer of Lang's minimalistic work and wanted to do a colloboration
with him. However Lang wasn't interested in going back to fashion so
they decided to combine their ideas into sculptures for Saint Laurent's
Rive Droite shop in Paris.
The sculptures are made from left-over fabrics and unused hardware from
Saint Laurent's previous collections. The dark lined poles might look a
bit indistinctly but with a closer look you see the beauty of Saint
Laurent's fabrics, chains and even the steel YSL logo.Besides the poles,
Lang made a black flower out of fabrics and a black carpet all exposed
on the first floor of the shop, matching beautiful with the black
marbled walls and interior of the concept store.
Lang making his vision on sustainability more clear then ever; not
wasting anything but transform it into art. Especially during
fashionweek in a high-end luxury store on the most chic street of Paris,
Rue Saint-Honore.
The sculptures are on display untill October the 30th and will then move
to Los Angeles where they will be available for purchase.
