Christopher Esber Spring/Summer '24 Paris Fashionweek

Australian designer, Christopher Esber debuted his Spring/Summer '24 collection on the official schedule during Paris Fashion Week at Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine. Since founding his brand in 2010, Christopher Esber built a global reputation for modern tailoring with a sophisticated approach by mixing masculin and feminin details.. The Spring/Summer '24 collection explores the connection between humans and nature, pointed out by the venue with it's old stone walls supporting the brand's neutral colorpalette of sand and stone, butter yellow, green and some dark browns. The garments contain different kind of fabrics like lace and silk, linen, jersey, soft knits, supported by new metallic structures combined with wired/fluffy/cut-out mules, sheer and zipped flat booties and rock-stone inspired bags. There was a refined interaction between the body and the garments through airy light layers, fringes, draperies and just enough cut-outs and sheers to show some skin.

Collection notes:
An encounter with materials and their interaction with the body. The innate, primal feelings of being enveloped by cloth. Fluid silhouettes are dissected, draped, and reconstructed. Feeling connected to nature. A sleeveless turtleneck features metal-backed faceted stones in a handwoven macrame; the couture construction taking days to create by hand. A dress, top and skirt in translucent crushed pleats that resemble glacier-like texture are edged in alpaca fringing. Organza floats as a sheer layer over tailored pants and denim. Hides of biomaterial leaves that grow freely on riverbanks and in tropical forests form tailored shapes. Leaves are laid individually and then connected to create a singular piece of fabric, appearing as tailored coats, skirts, cropped jackets and accenting strappy heels. A stone shaped sculptural leather bag relates us to the earth in hand. Ties and leather bind across the chest. A rigid sheer textile features structural boning, subtly exaggerating a pointed bust; an accentuated point that features throughout the collection. Christopher Esber

Our absolute favourite look was the butter yellow vegan leather skirt coming with a matching cropped jacket/shirt, bag and mules. Another outstanding look we found in the black maxi skirt with grey/silver metallic top without, at one side, a sleeve. A quiet basic and minimal look which we've seen before, but upgraded and totally made 2024 by giving the skirt a high slit at one side, styled with the one-sleeved top, making a whole new sophisticated statement.
