Tokio Kimura, born in 1985 in Chiba Prefecture, graduated from Bunka Fashion College before working across various OEM companies and domestic brands. His early career included assistant roles as well as extensive work repairing and remaking vintage clothing. In 2021, he founded his menswear brand Tokio, which he continues to evolve. Grounded in punk sensibility, the designer pushes forward in search of things he has not yet experienced or created with his own hands. In 2024, he was selected as a finalist representative for the Tokyo Fashion Award, followed by an performance in Paris in January 2025. At Tokyo Fashion Week in March 2025, the brand unveiled its Fall/Winter '25/'26 collection.
The Fall/Winter collection showed strong tailoring mixed with deconstructed trousers, fringed details, plaid knits, and bouclé cargo pants brought a punk edge to classic looks. Ruffles and vibrant colors added energy, highlighting the brand's hands-on craftsmanship and avant-garde approach to menswear. The collection pushed beyond tradition, challenging conventional menswear and exploring new creative ground.
Our standout look was the denim pairing: double-layered pants finished with white fringe, evoking a modern cowboy attitude, styled with a stud-pierced cargo blouse. Another highlight was the bouclé checkered cargo pants, sharpened by a sleek, tailored collarless blazer. Overall, the strength of the collection layed in its thoughtful layering and styling, with a notable moment being the grey checkered bermudas worn over matching grey trousers.
