Back in cold Copenhagen last january, where Gestuz presented their Fall/Winter '26 collection, titled "Smokey Mirror", The stripped industrial space, and the show captured the gritty, glamorous energy of a 1970s and 80s New York bar. As the collection drew inspiration from the regulars inside: sharp Wall Street businesswomen, glamorous ladies in heels, and laid-back, creative musicians. The models walked in like everyday women stepping straight off the street. As the venue filled up one person at a time, each look highlighted a different style and type of woman in the collection.
Key pieces included fur wraps, trend-forward stirrup leggings, big-shouldered leather jackets, and long burnout-fabric dresses with thin, trailing scarves. Playful 80s inspired accessories like ceramic olive bag charms and oversized necklaces added extra personality. The colors were also inspired by the cozy New York bar at night. Deep reds, browns, and dark greens felt like leather bench, velvet curtains, and warm wooden walls. A bright olive green was added, just like the olive in a dirty martini.
The show featured a team-up with Dutch studio Edith Beurskens and artist April Van Domburg. Together, they turned found objects and the classic green olive into unique, wearable jewelry. Shoes also made a return to the runway, serving as a reminder that the Gestuz woman is always on the move. This Fall/Winter '26 collection was made to feel confident, featuring classic Gestuz styles like sharp tailoring, heavy coats, and vintage touches.
"Smoke and mirrors are often described as illusion or distraction. 'Smokey Mirrors' is my way of reclaiming that idea. Clothing becomes a deliberate tool to step into the version of yourself you want to be. I saw this bar as a place where many personas exist at once. Different roles and expressions offemininity. And that really reflects the way I think about women and clothing. We are not just one thing, but can move between expressions." Creative director Sanne Sehested.
