Didu's Spring/Summer '22 collection called "The Last Dance of Life" is inspired
by Georgia O'Keeffe's color palette and the Edvard Munich painting called "The
Dance of life" and the mess we've made of our planet. Didu presented the new
collection as part of the official Paris Fashionweek calendar at Palais de
Tokyo, named as one of the must-see's of the season.
Du designs around the thought that the skin is a textile as well, draping,
deconstructing and reconstructing layers over the body and blending into it.
Making a wink to all the extreme wheather lately with lots of pieces made out
of swimwear material. As Du says: “It’s about the idea that we created this situation ourselves, so we have
to eat the consequences. So if you’re wearing a formal look and you get
soaked from the rain of a hurricane that’s just torn down your house, you
can dry fast”.
The looks are chic, playful, using patterns seen as tie-and-dye and
somehow also hawaiian vibe. There are cut-out in unpredictable places, sheer
blouses, drapings around the middle, cut-out denim placed together with
metal rings, string tops combined with mules or sandals
and many, many bright colors. It all looked something in between easy chic
and comfy sporty.
We loved all the tops and swimwear pieces, could imagine it wearing it with
an oversized blazer or just a basic trenchcoat. Also the denim trousers with
boxy knees (including little pockets with zippers) and cut outs at the legs
were one of the outstanding pieces. As said before....open your heart for new upcoming brands.
