Mossi Spring/Summer '21 collection & 'Mouvements' outdoor exhibition

Our first aquintance with Mossi was last september during the SPHERE showroom organised by Paris Fashionweek's FHCM at Palais de Tokyo. Mossie Traore, the designer behind the brand, combines different styles and art forms which made him won the ANDAM prize last year. During the presentation of his Spring/Summer '21 collection he used dancers, like in his outdoor exhibition 'Mouvements' now in Paris.

Mossi introduces fashion to people who might otherwise not have acces through a professional school he set up in the suburbs. Like Mossi says "the suburbs are bursting with talent, many of them in sewing. Our brand aims to support divere groups from disadvanataged neighbourhoods and promote their social and professional integration into the fashion industry. To achieve this we carry out training iniatives in the banlieus of Paris before introducing these skilled individuals into our design and production workshops. This kind of creation allows us to share."

The outdoor exhibition (25-02 till 15-03 2021) wants to bring out fashion to places outside of Paris that fashion has ignored and bring in new faces and artists. 'Mouvements' on the fences of Square Leon in Paris and also in Villiers-sur- Marne (actually the residency for Mossi's atelier in the suburbs, just outside Paris) combines the different works from different artists in poetry, dance and calligraphy. The designer explicitly chose these area's because he is convinced fashion must have a social utility and impact especially in neighbourhoods where art and culture most of the time are neglected.
We loved seeing it last sunday morning in Paris. The pictures by Julien Benhamou are stunning,  capturing the dancers' body lines and showing the softness and drapery of the clothes. Along with the beautiful sunlight and wind it gave real movement. Combined with the calligraphy by Hassan Massoudy and poetry of Ilham Echaddadi it all came together.

The Mossi Spring/Summer collection is now out and stands out in it's vibrant colors, layering and draping, pleated organza, trousers-tunic combinations, also with the calligraphy of Hasan Massoudy, combined with sneakers.
Mossi wants to work towards an economy of sharing, using eco-social fashion and make this accessible for everyone. We think it's definetely a designer to watch, he brougt the Opera to the suburbs.. so?! Besides that it is not only made in France, but made in banlieue and Mossi wants everybody to be and feel included is his projects.
PS If you still have the chance, go see the outdoor exhibition!
