Boyarovskaya Fall/Winter '22 Paris Fashionweek

Only a few days after the start of the war in Ukraine, Boyarovskaya presented their new Fall/Winter collection at Palais de Tokyo during Paris Fashionweek. The presentation started with a statement of the brand:
- This collection was filmed on one of the largest work of landart constructed over the ruins of a town completely destroyed by the power of a massive earthquake. Nature can't be controlled...but war can. BOYAROVSKAYA is a conjunction between Belarussian designer and an Ukrainian photographer and in this very moment while we're speaking our respective fathers and brothers could any second be mobilised to fight against each other and against their wills. There are no words...but there should be actions. -
"If we don't end war, war will end us."  H.G.Well

The venue was sober, only the garment displayed on a clothing rack and a TV screen which premiered the collection movie. As we watched it together the ending was shocking.... loud air raid sirens, as if we were  supposed to go as quick as possible into to the bombshelters. The sound was loud which made it extremely intens, sitting in the dark with the news images in our heads of the Ukrainian war. The message was clear and the fear real.
As we know the brand for several years now we were really touched that Boyarovskaya decided to present their collection under these personal circumstances.

The brand is known for it's modern Parisian chic, minimalist pieces with curved cuts and deconstructed tailoring. The new Fall/Winter collection contains bold oversized knits combined with sleek wool dresses with or without pants. The layering and draping of the oversized pieces are the heart of the outfits and are combined with skirts, jeans or leggings, all worn with mules or kitten heels. The cut-outs making the designs versatile, is seen in a variety of long-sleeved tops as well as in the designs of the tight pants/leggings.
Our favourite look was the light grey woven wool dress, styled with cropped jeans and a knit worn as a kind of cape/vest. Another stand out piece is the brand's well known leather trenchcoat; feminine and slightly oversized tailored. We absolutely loved the sheer body with cut-outs in beige/nude style and the small details in the designs like the piercing in the white tee and the one on the revers of the trench coat.
