_J.L-A.L_ Spring/Summer'26 Paris Fashionweek

The _J.L-A.L_ Spring/Summer '26 collection: 'Mille Chaises', is inspired by furniture design and the book 1000 Chairs. Instead of just creating fashion trends, the collection treats clothing like architecture by not focusing on flashy trends, but using the structure of a chair as a concept for how clothing can support, shape, and contain the body. Inverting the traditional runway dynamic, the Paris presentation turned the audience into spectators of stillness. Models remained completely seated while the guests stood, a deliberate choice that emphasized the physical act of sitting and the body's relationship to furniture. The models sat on sculptural chairs designed by the South Korean design studio NICEWORKSHOP. Rather than acting as mere background props, these chairs were central to the show, perfectly supporting the collection's architectural theme.

The clothing is built with the precision of architecture. Many pieces feature modular button systems, allowing them to adapt and change shape. Sharp laser cuts, metal eyelets, and asymmetrical drapes give the garments a clean, industrial look, while the seam lines are inspired by the structured elegance of classic wooden chairs. This design approach comes to life in pieces like biker jackets, long coats, oversized tailored trousers and comfortable, ergonomic messenger bags, all crafted from a high-quality blend of linen, wool, and both technical and natural cottons. Made by expert tailors in Italy using fabrics from Italy and Japan, this collection is all about how clothes fit into the world around us. The materials were chosen because they keep their shape and look sharp, but are still light and breathable. A color palette of ivory, brown, forest green, and cognac brings the collection to life, while the mix of technical design and organic textures creates a subtle tension between feel and form. The standout piece of the collection was the round, teddy-fleece sleeveless cropped bodywarmer, which wraps around the upper body like a cozy cocoon. It comes in cream white, cognac brown, and black, and is styled with easy, oversized belted pants. Another standout look was a white, see-through tailored jacket with a shirt collar, styled to  bring a fresh, contemporary edge to the collection.

This season the brand is also expanding its footwear. It previewed an upcoming sneaker collaboration with Puma, showcasing two prototypes: the CELL Umbre and CELL Midnight. Additionally, the brand introduced its own Shin Loafer, a shoe inspired by Grete Jal's iconic Lounge Chair.
