Creative director Irakli Rusadze draws inspiration from his home country of
Georgia to craft artful, genderfluid garments. Since establishing the Tbilisi
based brand in 2015, Rusadze has been exploring his deep connection to his
post-Soviet home nation with vibrant sartorial expressions. The inspiration
behind the label's moniker, a mid-20th century group of political and artistic
rebels, courses through the brand's collection with splashes of red, blue, and
genderfluid silhouettes. Cinched waists, strong shoulders, sophisticated
tailoring, layering, and draping unite a bustling avantgarde collection.
Tailored blazers, cut-out and lace-up detailing, while pleated kilts and
layered cherry red lapels find panache in the details. Latest in a line of
famed Georgian designers, Rusadze translates his roots into reality with a
full spectrum offering from Situationist.
For their Fall/Winter '23 collection Situationist
collaborated with Yaspis, a brand founded in 2021 by Ukrainian designer Nina
Kolomitseva. This young brand's goal is to use unique shapes while creating a
comfortable wardrobe which can be worn like a second skin. Irakli and Nina met 5
years ago and Nina quickly became friend of the brand. Due to their shared
values and vision, the founders of both brands decided to collaborate and design
a new collection together. As a result the collection features strong tailoring,
a variety of printed fabrics as leather, knit and bamboo with mesh used like a
guided thread through the collection, as well as sexy evening- and outer
wear.
From the first time we got to know the brand, back in 2017 at their
presentation during Paris Fashionweek, we follow and love the brand because of
their great strong silhouettes and leather pieces. Again we seaw awesome
leather designs in dresses, cropped oversized jackets and long trenchcoats.
Absolute stand-out pieces are the long leather dress with balloon-skirt and
the black dress with leather red balloon details. The all silver combination,
long maxi skirt and tailored jacket, deserves attention as well, as it is chic
and yet such a modern design. We also loved all the big long fluffy and hairy
oversized coats, combined with.... less clothes :-) Do you dare?
