Gestuz turns 15 years and in the Spring/Summer show at Copenhagen fashion week; 'Beauty meets the imperfect'.
Collection Notes
Beauty is never one-sided but is underlined and personalised by the contrast
of imperfections, honesty, and rebellion. In the Gestuz Spring/Summer show
contrasts are studied through the embrace of elements such as classical
music, draping and flowing fabrics, together with rebel details and
references. The famous Copenhagen cultural spot Den Grå Hal creates the
surroundings for the show, itself containing the contrast of elegant old
wooden beams together with worn-down floors and concrete.
A big selection of long, flowy dresses draped over the body, inspired by
old, Greek statues and how the stone is made to look like fabric. The
collection is a general look at a more classic beauty, but it is underlined
with harder, edgier details to bring in the contrast that lies in the Gestuz
DNA.
With a base of whites, beige, denim, the collection contains draped dresses, floor touching coats and cargo style jumpsuits/trousers, alternated with light airy printed silks. The most edgy contrast is found in the steel pieces jeweller Ninna York designed, which is extended in the studded denim pieces as well as in the leather jackets and bags. Our favourite look, being a good example of scandi aesthetic, we found in the creamy cropped tweed blazer, combined with a long wide black skirt and worn with boots. We loved the butter yellow hooded long dress, draped on the hips as if it was a statue, styled with big sunglasses and open-toe boots. Special mention for the dark brown and beige white silk dresses, a fabric Gestuz uses a lot, this season in a timeless design.
