TG Botanical Spring/Summer '24 Copenhagen Fashionweek

No it wasn't a hot day in Copenhagen last Augustus, when TG Botanical had their Spring/Summer show which you might presume looking at the garments. It was actually the wettest, windiest and coldest fashionweek we experienced in Copenhagen. While the runway was staged under a bridge next to the canal, with a heavy cold wind, models walked by wearing the thinnest clothes...so, big shoutout to them!

Collection notes
TG Botanical Spring/Summer '24 collection explores the frailty of being and the frailty of matter. The designer of the brand Tetyana Chumak sees beauty in destructive processes of nature and its eternal cyclicality. The core of the TG Botanical Spring/Summer collection is the styles chaotically stitched with an elastic thread; such pieces, according to the designer, remind the surface of Earth and eroded metal. The distressed effect brings an organic feel to each garment, enhancing its femininity, rooted in the architecture of a woman’s body. The fluidity of stitched styles make them look like they “live” on a body and are the one whole with it.This deep connection to nature is traditionally reflected in the designer’s choice of materials. This season Tetyana Chumak uses certified batiste, cottons, silks, organic nettle and linens for kinetic skirts, cargo trousers, daring tops and dresses. For the very first time the brand introduces accessories to the collection, which are made of an old nettle cloth, sourced from local artisans. Nettle mules and mini-bag are produced in limited quantities. The color scheme of the TG Botanical is earthy with bright brashes of ocher and cyan blue. The latter is brought to the collection with the old technique of cyanotype, which allows to reach the specific shade of blue as seen in this collection. The collection is an awareness of impermanence and transience of things and an attempt to capture a poetic allure of their passing.

What was not to like about this collection? The tailoring and fabrics looked amazing, all garments are sustainably made, the designs are quiet timeless and the pieces are easily to combine and style with other pieces when it's colder or when you're not comfortable showing too much skin (think combining it with denim jeans, an oversized bombers, a white blouse etc).
There was one look which got our attention immediately due to the layered design of the miniskirt ( which also comes in a cargostyle inspired grey pants) worn with a beautiful embroided and distressed bikini-like top in warm yellow. Everything Tetyana Chumak aimed for with this collection, came together in this outfit.
