Feng Chen Wang, a designer from China now based in the UK, launched her label at New York Fashion Week in 2016 and was soon nominated for the LVMH Prize. The brand showcased its men's and women's Spring/Summer '25 collection at the Palais de Tokyo during Paris Men's Fashion Week.
Feng Chen Wang is known for its modern, deconstructed style and blending function with creativity. The collections feature bold, gender-fluid designs, like oversized sweaters, asymmetrical dresses, and eye-catching coats and jackets, often with unique graphics. With a focus on detail and innovation, Feng Chen Wang creates smart, forward-thinking Men and Womenswear.
The collection moved from a serious tone to a more practical, everyday style, combining traditional Chinese painting with a modern touch. It began with office-ready outfits in shades of grey, styled with ties. Functional pieces like pocketed jackets, polo shirts, and distressed cardigans added utility and a workwear edge. Gradient denim jackets and cargo pants shifted from beige to white, creating a powerful visual effect. One of our favourites were the deconstructed suits bringing an avant-garde touch; models wearing four stacked rectangular sunglasses, punked styled white sprayed hair, and white lipstick as finishing touch. As the show went on, Feng Chen Wang elements appeared like double-waisted, dip & dyed denim, layered shirts, and graphic tees with abstract globe designs.
Finally, in the most exciting part of the show, models walked slowly in sleek black and dark brown tailored eveningwear. Their pace was slowed by double-platform, futuristic UGG shoe covers in cream, brown, and black rubber, an eye-catching detail that grabbed everyone's attention and perfectly captured Feng's bold and distinctive design language.
Collection notes:
'The porcelain luster remains the same, and the sun and moon are new
again'
Time, like an invisible artisan, weaves the texture of years.
Bound by an ardent love for ancient artifacts, Feng is a collector. She
often falls under the spell of their incredibly detailed texture and
craftskill. Each enchanting item tempered by time, its glaze
softening and deepening, narrating a beauty sculpted by time.Like a traveler threading through time, Feng Chen Wang’s Spring/Summer
'25 collection sees Wang seeking inspiration from ancient artifacts,
unearthing the essential natural rhythms in material craftsmanship and
silhouette design. The meticulously carved ceramics and redefined
fabric textures capture the naturally occurring cracks in handcrafted
clay. While feeling contemporary, they are infused with a futuristic
vitality.
Bamboo, a signature element of the brand, is handwoven by artisans,
transforming into light lines. The delicate veins between clothing
She adeptly employs traditional fabrics like cloud silk (xiangyun sha)
and fish roe resist-dyed (yuzi xie) fabric, integrating these
precious handcrafted materials into her designs to create this modern
'collector's' collection. This series encapsulates the inspirations and
thoughts that have long lingered in her mind, now finally expressed.
The profound emotions expressed by the celadon green interweaves with the
restrain of chestnut brown, subtly painting the imprints of time on
each garment. This collection blends together the tones and essence of
Chinese painting with the bustling rhythm of modernity.
The unique footwear are, in fact, her sculptural works, cleverly
incorporating the crackled glaze elements of porcelain onto their surface.
This is also a refresh of the UGG Tasman shoe, where the seemingly
accidental imperfections in porcelain firing are given new life, stepping
lightly across the boundaries of time, from the past into the
future. With this collection debuts a new capsule line, the 'féng' label. The
word 'féng' resonates with 'meet' and 'sew',sounding the same in Chinese,
symbolizing the brand’s respect for and inheritance of traditional
sewing techniques. It signifies Feng Chen Wang's progress towards
a higher form of craftsmanship. Every stitch seems to tell their own
story and emotions, traversing the tunnel of time, awakening ancient
memories, yet blooming in the present.
